Well played to all who entered the Apostles Cup and Spoon over the weekend. A full field turned out for another great day with the course, as it has been all year, in excellent condition. Well done to Neil and his team which included me!! Yes I was raking bunkers first thing in the morning, I thought I may be able to pull rank and get a nice easy job, but Neil was having none of it!

The morning rounds saw some good scores, Vince Shine with an 81 in the Spoon just piped by Mark Watson with an 80. In the Cup some jostling for position saw Patrick Jones and Ruwan come in with a 70 and 71 to be neck and neck.

In the afternoon rounds we saw Vince fall away but Gene Suena, as he does so often, had a fantastic second round 75 to put the pressure on. However Mark Watson (pictured above right) held his nerve and a second round 79 saw him win the Spoon by 3 shots, well done to him.

Tyler Venables decided that he was not going to give up his crown that easily and his superb second round 66 really put the pressure on Patrick and Ruwan. Patrick (pictured right) just held on by shooting a 68 to win by one single stroke from Tyler to re-claim the crown he won in 2006 & 2008.

I would like to thank Jenny and David for all their hard work which enabled me to miss all the drama to attend a wedding. Also a big thank you to Richard Lawrence and Mike McCarthy for presenting the prizes.
